The Growth Psychology Story

Growth Psychology Practice was established in 2008 and is a progressive private practice centrally located in Geelong. We deliver high-quality care to the Geelong and surrounding regions from a team of fully registered experienced Psychologists.

Our Practice

We have a team of highly experienced Clinical and General Psychologists based in central Geelong.

All of our psychologists are all fully registered. Many have extensive (10+ years post full registration experience) and rich knowledge and experience in providing care to clients. Psychologists at Growth are committed to the latest developments in research and treatment approaches through regularly attending training workshops and conferences.

Our psychologists use their experience and knowledge to help provide high-quality care for your individual needs.

As a progressive Psychology practice we strive to be the first choice provider of Psychological Services to Geelong and our community. Our Practice values care, authenticity, empathy, collaboration and excellence to support our clients in developing meaningful and lasting change.

Our Geelong-based practice consists of two beautifully restored, light filled and purposely renovated Victorian cottages providing a calm, comfortable and welcoming space as soon as you step through our doors.

Under the Better Access Scheme a GP Mental Health Care Plan initiative (MHCP), can provide Medicare rebates for Psychology services. An intiiial plan can be prepared with your General Practitioner, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician and entitles you to access 6 rebatable visits over the calendar year.

Once you have completed your six sessions, you can see your General Practitioner, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician for a MHCP review. This can entitle you to an additional 4 sessions. Our team at Growth Psychology Practice offer support to monitor how many sessions you have used across your MHCP. However, it is important for clients to be aware of this to prevent exhausting your sessions and being required to pay privately.

Clients are also able to access Psychology services at Growth Psychology Practice privately with no referral required. Rebates through private healthcare funds are commonly available (please contact your fund to establish rebates as these vary across funds.

We also support clients through third party referrals including WorkSafe, TAC or NDIS. Please discuss this option with your Psychologist if you feel this is suitable to your situation.

We operate a proactive cancellation appointment system. This supports the earlier scheduling of initial and follow-up appointments with psychologists who may sometimes have waiting periods for initial consultations. Clients can expect follow up appointments to be booked approximately 2 weeks apart at the time of initial booking.

Owing to our strong reputation and support from referrers the practice may experience busier periods in which an appointment will be booked on a next available basis.

Throughout your care you can ask to be placed on our general cancellation list. Every endeavour will be made to bring your appointment forward if you are on a waiting list. When a cancellation appointment becomes available, an sms will be sent out to advise time and availability.

Our team at Growth Psychology Practice provides continuing care with our clients, and as such, our ability to respond to crisis situations and emergencies is limited. Clients can expect that there is a 24-48 hour turn around period for return phone calls from their Psychologist, depending on their hours of work.

If you are in need of urgent assistance, please contact the ACCESS Team at Barwon Health on 1300 094 187. This service is resourced to provide support 24 hours a day. ACCESS is the primary point of entry to Barwon Health public mental health services.

Alternatively, you may contact Lifeline on 131 114.

Our practice provides a continuing care service. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer stand-alone report writing services for medicolegal (compensatory or civil matters), Disability Support Pension (DSP) applications, or other similar circumstances. If you are seeking a report for these purposes we encourage you to liaise further with your General Practitioner.

Our Psychologists reserve the sole discretion to decline requests for reports at the outset of, or during treatment. Where a report is requested and consented to by the Consultant Psychologist as a requirement for access to treatment services or part of assessment services (or in exceptional circumstances) it will be provided 30 days from clear payment of the invoice. Please ensure you advise our administrative team and your psychologist if you may require a report in advance.

Medicare Easyclaim assists clients to receive their rebates through the HICAPS terminal at the time of their consultation. If you are able to provide a current Medicare card and a cheque or savings debit card, our receptionists are able to process the rebate available for your session at the time of your consultation.

Please note: There are certain circumstances which can affect our ability to process your rebate at the time of your consultation. On these occasions we may unfortunately need to refer you to a Medicare office or online to claim your rebate.

Growth Psychology Practice is open 8:45am-5:30pm Monday – Thursday, and 8:45am 4:00pm Friday’s.

We have a full time front of house team, so you will be warmly welcomed to our practice and assistance is on hand during these hours.
